ABOUT COFFEE


How do I choose my coffee?

Two aspects must be taken into account when choosing coffee:

  1. What method will I use to make my coffee?

We recommend espresso-roasted coffees for espresso machines and the moka pot.

We recommend our filter-roasted coffees for alternative filter devices such as the Hario V60 or the Aeropress.

  1. What flavors do I look for in my coffee?

The categories (classic, elegant, explorer, extravagant, limited release) have been created so that we can cover our consumers’ taste preferences as widely as possible and anyone can easily find the taste profile they like the most in our offerings. How freshly roasted is the coffee?

We work with minimal stock and usually roast our coffees fresh to order. Calculated from the delivery date of the package, the roasting date is expected to be between 2-14 days. For our coffees, we recommend a resting period of at least 1 week from the date of roast to let it degas, to release the excess CO2 trapped in the beans. According to our experience, roasted coffee reaches its peak after 14-30 days, which is when you can make the most delicious drink from it.


Can I order the coffee pre-ground?

We only sell coffee beans and/or capsule coffee. We are unable to grind the coffee and we do not recommend the consumption of pre-ground coffee, because the quality deteriorates rapidly after grinding.

What water should I use for my coffee?

According to the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) water for coffee should be clean, fresh, odor free in the range of 50-175 ppm CaCO3 calcium hardness, 40-70ppm CaCO3 alkalinity.

Tap water in Hungary and most parts of Europe is simply not good for coffee, because of its hardness and high alkalinity. It is almost never odor free and full of chloride.

However we can recommend some tools or ways to achieve these requirements. For espresso machines and the Moka Pot, you can simply use a water filter jug such as the BWT Vida water filter jug with the BWT Longlife Mg2+ filter cartridge.

For the best results we recommend the Third Wave Water mineral solution that is the easiest way to make the perfect water for coffee! You can buy these in our webshop, where we offer the Classic Profile for filter coffee and the Espresso Profile for espresso machines. How fine/coarse should I grind the coffee?

Many things can affect the correct grind size of the beans. Among other things, the variant and processing of the coffee, the level of roasting, the water used for making it, the method with which it is prepared, and many more could be listed. Different grinders and burr types also require different settings. This is a very complex process, so we cannot give precise, universal advice. The best starting point is to always adjust the grind size according to the desired flow rate. If the flow of coffee during the brew is too fast, grind finer, if too slow, grind coarser. What machines is the coffee capsule compatible with?

Awaken coffee capsules are exclusively compatible with Nespresso compatible machines.


How do we store the coffee after opening?

Based on our experience, coffee beans retain their freshness for the longest time if they are stored in their own bag, sealed airtight, at room temperature. Store this way and consume within 3 weeks after opening. Make sure that there is no air left in the bag and that it is tightly closed with some kind of clips. Unfortunately, the seal on the bag can easily open up due to the pressure of the gases leaving the coffee, so we recommend using clips. If we want to store the coffee for longer than that, the freezer is a very good solution. In this case, it is worth portioning out and freezing in vacuum packaging, because if you put the whole bag of coffee in and out of the freezer, a little vapor will inevitably form inside and the moisture will negatively affect the taste of the beans.

Is there a minimum order amount?

There is no minimum order amount, but we deliver free of charge throughout Hungary from HUF 15,000.


What payment methods are available? / Can I pay the courier by cash on delivery?

You can pay online by credit card via two service providers: SimplePay

or Stripe. You can also choose to check out with cash on delivery payment method, in which case you will pay the courier upon delivery by cash or bank card. You can read more about the terms of payment here. (link a terms of payment oldalra)


How much does the shipping cost?

How long does it take for my order to arrive?

Within Hungary, the package arrives within 1 working day from the date of dispatch. Please keep in mind that every week we roast based on the incoming orders. The deadline for orders is on Tuesday at midnight for delivery on the same week meaning Thursday or Friday. If you place your order later than that, your shipment will be dispatched and delivered the following week only. Can I track my order?

Yes, a tracking number is available for every order, so it can be tracked on the website of the courier company according to the chosen delivery method.


What happens if my order has not arrived within 7 days?

If you have received a notification from the courier company about the delivery of the package, please contact the relevant service provider. If you have not received it, please write to us at the email address info@awakenco.eu. Please keep in mind that every week we roast based on the incoming orders. The deadline for orders is on Tuesday at midnight for delivery on the same week meaning Thursday or Friday. If you place your order later than that, your shipment will be dispatched and delivered the following week only.
